Ironwood timber possesses a unique quality where the timber will change from a pale amber to a deep reddish brown that enhances the look of the product. This happens naturally and is not a result of staining.
Many other timbers require curing, a process of continually hosing and drying until the timber leaches no more sap. Ironwood is completely cured and ready for use straight away with no risk of leaching. Ironwood does not bleed or leach sap.
Amazing durability - The Ironwood timber heartwood resists the attack of fungi and insects, including termites and marine borers. It is also rot resistant.
Ironwood is considerably heavier than Jarrah and appreciably heavier than American and European oak.
Ironwood is considerably heavier than Jarrah or Kwila timber, with a density of 1.0(62lb/ft) seasoned, compared with the density of Jarrah when seasoned is 0.82 (52lb/ft).
Ironwood timber is 18% denser than Jarrah.
